The site of 120 Bourke Street once housed six terrace houses constructed between the 1850s and the 1880s.
Four of the terrace houses were demolished in the 1940s when Frederick Walter Sutton, a car dealer and automotive repairer purchased two of the terraces and the Tajmindjis brothers, also motor engineers purchased the other two. Soon after motor-car businesses were established on the site.
In the 1960s the site was consolidated and transferred to Suttons Motors. It was then used as a car service centre for Ferrarri and later Scuderia Veloce Motors until 2007 when W Property purchased the site. Allegria Ballet School occupied the building from 2007 until 2010 and have now moved next door to make way for the new development of the site as retail and commercial suites.
